Industry Leaders Merge – LearnKey®, LearnCast® and Predix

Three powerful companies merge to form a very strategic learning entity known as Better Learning Systems (BLS).

LearnKey® Inc., LearnCast® Inc., and Predix Inc., combine their executive leadership teams, global experience and financial resources to create the “next big idea” in the learning industry, Better Learning Systems.

These three companies all share a similar background of delivering first-to-market solutions and innovations within the learning, e-learning and mobile learning industries. Their stories include accomplishments such as the first video-based software training company (1987); the first privately held company to deliver  interactive CD-ROM to the market with video, labs and assessments; the first company to stream learning video in an online learning portal with labs and assessments; and possibly the first mobile platform to specifically offer rapid development tools, learning management tools, video transcoding with global distribution specific to learning within one cloud-based system.

“I’m really interested to see how our existing customer base adopts our new and strategic offerings. This will prove to have more value with better reach and deeper measurements for everyone”, stated David Clemons CEO and Founder of LearnCast.com

“The global industry of video based training, online learning, mobile innovation and individual talent discovery through software, will see something fantastic at Better Learning Systems”

This merger represents a very big move for the privately held LearnKey®, the original video-based software training company launched in 1987, who has brought together an interesting blend of mobile technology and professional behavioral assessment technology and know-how together under one vision – one mission. “Build a Better Learning System

Intelligent Content Conference – David Clemons Workshop

Intelligent Content Conference 2011 – Palm Springs Calif.

What a good opportunity it was for me to meet experts and professionals in the “Intelligent Content” community. Ann Rockley and her team hosted a fantastic 3 day program. The attendees and sponsored vendors really understand this topic and how important the distribution of intelligent content is to everyone.

I was invited to present a 3 hour workshop discussing how to create mobile content and distribute mobile programs to any device using the  the LearnCast Mobile Platform. Our presentation was aimed at professionals who already understand the basics of “Taxonomy”,”Pedagogy” and “Instructional Design” we were more focused on what makes content “mobile” how content has to encoded and transcoded for device detection and distribution.

At Intelligent Content Conference, you hear topics of discussions like “taxonomy”, “meta data schema”, “CMS” and other technical and necessary terms .

Taxonomy of content means that the content is grouped or tagged for the search engine, for example, how Google references your content. Taxonomy also takes in to consideration the linkage between two, three or more words that become more important to the business. Most companies place content into a professional content management systems , CMS,   which organizes content into searchable “meda data” content objects, blocks of content and or associated media resources.  Meta data becomes an essential element for search engine optimization of content and usability of content by the users.

Tagging is the art of placing relevant words and relevant phrases into an article, an image or rich media object. These tags are a large part of the search engine algorithms used by Google, Bing, Yahoo and Yellow Pages, allow the search engines to rank and post the search findings.

With in the hands on lab – we worked in small teams to produce small chunks of content using Text, images, video, audio, quiz, and polling, then distributing to target devices such as SMS Text Message, email and through the LearnCast Content Distribution App.

LearnCast ( Mobile Platform ) allows the user to author rapid content, organize the pedagogy, develop the user interactive strategy and gain instant feedback. Additionally, we have an internal high optimized search engine for content automatically indexed within all courses, which saves time and expense for content architects, having content ‘searchable’ within the learning space, automatically.

Our goal was to show that by building simple content with navigation, using a multitude of media types and engagements like polling and assessments each attendee could see immediate distribution on any device they requested. Its always exciting to hear the response of ” Oh – Thats cool” or just “WoW!”, we they see their first delivery of content within seconds.

Distribution of content means – “Provisioning content” so that the content will be viewed correctly by a user on any and all devices. The user experience is consistent and rewarding.

I highly recommend this conference – if – you are responsible for intelligent content creation and distribution for your enterprise.

Mobile Technology used for Nurse Education

Hospitals need smart people who can manage tough situations. As a heart patient myself (aortic valve replacement) I have to see a lab every month to check my INR or blood thinning. I watch the staff and listen. Amazed at how well trained they are also realizing that they are good communicators. For a large percentage of the people I have connected with, I believe their goal is to understand my needs and execute quickly what needs to be done. I like that.

Talking about customer service.. Im waiting longer than normal and the front office comes out as Im writting this and offers a ticket to a movie , resturant ect… Wow!

Amazon Rates Managing The Mobile Workforce #6 Position

Amazon is helping the Clemons/Kroth climb the rankings in Business/Telecommute. This is good news for the McGraw-Hill staff and the efforts of the authors. Interesting, within the rating system we are sitting at #6 and #10 – not sure why, but its good advertising and exposure for us.( I think this has to do with digital version vs. the Hard Bound copy)
